Lily Jade Bag Comparison- The Caroline, Itzy Ritzy, and Mina Baie backpack

We’re back with another set of bag comparisons where we break down and highlight features so you can easily decide the bag that’s right for you. Today’s roundup includes some popular brand names and styles- the Lily Jade Caroline in Stone, the Itzy Ritzy Boss Backpack in Black and White, and the Mina Baie Stevie Backpack in Stone. All three of these styles are featured here in vegan leather.

First, we will take a look at the space and volume of each bag. We know it is essential to have room for all the necessities of motherhood. Online photos can make it hard to tell the scale and size of a product. As you can see below, we have our towel test. And while both the Itzy Ritzy and Mina Baie can comfortably fit two luxe fluffy towels, The Caroline can stretch a bit more to accommodate a third towel.
As for shape, you can also see the Itzy Ritzy Boss Backpack sits the tallest. This was problematic for reviewers with shorter torsos who said it came down and bumped their backside when they walked around. The other two bags are more compact which avoids this problem.
Now on to discussing organization! As mothers, we also want to find our things. We are big believers in “a place for everything and everything in its place!” The Mina Baie has a beautiful sleek look and even a “sunken” front zipper on the front panel pocket. The other exterior pockets have magnetized closures to help them maintain their sleek look. However, when packed to capacity, it is tight to reach in and retrieve your items. While the Itzy Ritzy Boss Backpack boasts a generous 17 total pockets, we found many of them unuseful. When the bag is packed to capacity, reviewers commented it was super difficult to get anything in or out of the front pocket. The smaller front pockets were not able to hold a phone or wallet.
One thing reviewers mentioned for both Mina Baie and Itzy Ritzy is that when the interior pockets are full the bottom of the bag is difficult to access. The Caroline has two front zippered pockets and a “hidden” front panel pocket that make it convenient for keeping important items such as phone, wallet, or keys accessible without concern for security. The interior is also well designed with both elasticized pockets and a zippered option as well. The generous side pockets allow for water bottles without compromising the interior space.
Comfort is key to carrying a bag with a baby in tow. All three bags offer different carrying options. While all three can be carried both backpack style and top handle tote style, both the Mina Baie and Lily Jade can also be carried with a longer crossbody strap. As always, Lily Jade additionally offers customizable straps to accessorize your bag.
The Mina Baie has the narrowest straps while the Itzy Ritzy has partial vegan and partial nylon straps that hang down on the sides.
The Lily Jade has the largest top handles for a comfortable arm carry, as well as ergonomically designed backpack straps for a cloud like experience when hauling all the gear.
And of course, we can’t leave out quality and details when comparing bags. When you’re loading up for a day out, we know you don’t want to feel like your things are a burden. Both the Itzy Ritzy and Lily Jade come in at around 2.5 lbs each at empty weight, while the Mina Baie weighs in at 3.6 lbs making it heavier before you start packing up.
One other thing to note are the Itzy Ritzy zippers. Many reviewers mentioned catching, skipping, defective or failing zippers and even zippers tearing away from the bag. Another similar observation is that two hands are sometimes needed to hold the two sides together whilst zipping it, which can prove inconvenient at the same time as holding baby.
